Best practices for motorcycle beginners

Bonne route !

Tips for maintaining your vehicle (and avoiding major problems)

What if taking care of your vehicle was the key to avoiding surprise breakdowns, driving safely and saving money? Discover the simple things you can do to keep your car in top condition. Check tire pressure regularly Tire pressure is crucial to your safety and fuel consumption. Poorly inflated tires can lead to premature wear or increase the risk of an accident. Get a tire pressure gauge and check the recommended pressure in your vehicle manual. Tip: Check the pressure when you're cold, i.e. before setting off or after driving less than 2 km. Keep an eye on the engine oil level Engine oil plays a vital role in lubricating internal components. A monthly check is all you need to ensure that the level is correct. Use the dipstick under the hood to check that the oil is between the minimum and maximum marks. Caution: Too much oil can be just as problematic as too little. Carefully top up if necessary. Inspect the brakes Efficient brakes are essential. If you hear unusual noises or feel a lack of responsiveness, it's time to consult a professional. Brakes must be inspected regularly to avoid any risk. Remember: you may have been taught the signs of worn brakes in your awareness courses. If in doubt, ask a specialist for advice. Clean your vehicle regularly Frequent washing prevents corrosion caused by dirt, mud and road salt. A clean interior, meanwhile, contributes to your comfort and concentration at the wheel. Tip: Invest in floor mats and seat covers. They protect the interior and are easy to maintain. Don't limit yourself to engine oil. Also check the coolant, windshield washer fluid and brake fluid. These are essential to keep your vehicle running smoothly. Please note: Coolant prevents the engine from overheating, especially in summer. Windshield washer fluid ensures good visibility, which is essential for your safety. Make sure your lights are working properly Lights help you see and be seen. Regularly check the condition of your headlights, brake lights and indicators. Clean them to maximize their effectiveness. Tip: Always keep a spare bulb on board. It could help you out in case of an unexpected problem. Regular maintenance schedule Some items require professional attention. Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule for oil changes, filter changes and general inspections. Remember: Neglected maintenance can lead to breakdowns, accidents and increased fuel consumption. Adopt a smooth driving style Smooth driving is good for your vehicle. Avoid sudden acceleration and braking, which can prematurely wear out mechanical components such as brakes and tires. In conclusion: Adopt good habits These simple gestures only take a few minutes, but can save you a lot of time and money in the long term. A well-maintained vehicle means a smoother, safer ride. If you need advice or assistance, don't hesitate to come and see us at the driving school. Take care of your vehicle, and it'll take care of you!
